A ski mountaineering trip through the Tauern Mountains, between routes that start from villages hidden in deep valleys, long spectacular descents. Discovering fortresses, mosques, madrasas, tombs and caravanserais hidden within ancient cities. A ski mountaineering trip where skiing definitely represents a beautiful "excuse" to discover distant lands. Sport and culture together for a perfect combination.
A trip that is exotic to say is an understatement! The Aladaglar and Cappadocia mountains hide within their folds an infinity of small villages, hidden valleys surrounded by mountains and volcanoes that exceed three thousand meters in height... The ski mountaineering itineraries here are decidedly secluded, the crowds are discouraged by the rough environment of the mountains Turkish and leave room for authentic ski mountaineering.
We are in the south of Turkey: the disturbed currents arriving from Siberia run free and cold over the great plains of Central Asia, enriching themselves with humidity on the Caspian and Black Seas and giving these mountains abundant snow; the valleys, always deep and sunken, sometimes with a severe and dolomitic appearance, require off-road approaches and differences in height that often exceed 1500 metres!
A fascinating spring ski mountaineering trip among the great mountains of Kyrgyzstan: an amazing turnover of immense pine forests and high-altitude pastures and prairies, at the bottom of which an infinite number of glaciers emerge. Those lead to peaks around 4000 - 4500 meters, a good part of which is unknown! Here ski mountaineering is a real exploratory experience: you will be certainly far from trendy resorts, crowded slopes or even just tracks! The only possible encounters are with the Kyrgyz shepherds or with the hunters riding up the valleys for the first spring hunts on the back of the legendary Kyrgyz horses and with an eagle perched on their arm… The mere journey from Bishkek - capital of Kyrgyzstan - to Tamga is an experience itself: the road crosses hills between semi-desert mountains and then runs along the great Issyk Kul Lake, one of the deepest lakes in the world. The view becomes increasingly harsh among flocks of sheep and herds of horses, and small villages where even today craftsmen build yurts in wood and felt. In the background the Tien Shan mountains - Celestial Mountains – exhort travelers to exploration and ski mountaineering.
Kyrgyzstan is a country in Central Asia made up of 94% mountains, which is why our destination, the Irdyk Valley, will give us uncontaminated landscapes capable of transmitting calm and serenity. Almost as if we were in another dimension! We will sleep in a colorful yurt and wake up surrounded by snow, ready to slide down the slopes of the incredible Kyrgyz mountains. Upon returning to camp, before the typical dinner, we will allow ourselves a moment of relaxation with a nice sauna. The right reward after the effort of ski mountaineering, right?!
