The Bernina trek is a unique experience that will lead you through the spectacular mountains of the Swiss and Italian Alps.
One of the most popular routes is the High Route of Val Malenco: a trail that takes us through breathtaking landscapes, passing alpine lakes, glaciers, and picturesque valleys. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views and immerse ourselves in the tranquility of nature.

Travel program
DAY 1:
Our tour begins in Maloja, a picturesque Swiss village where wooden houses and stunning turquoise lakes will accompany us for a good part of the day. We will then enter the Forno Valley, following a well-marked and equipped trail that will lead us to the breathtaking scenery of the Capanna del Forno (2,574 m), overlooking the magical glacier. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2:
From Capanna del Forno, we will cross Sella del Forno (2,769 m, the border with Italy), enjoying a spectacular view of Monte Disgrazia and its vast glaciers. We will descend into Val Bona, where the panorama of Chiareggio Valley, Ventina Valley, and the imposing Monte Disgrazia is truly remarkable! After passing the alpine pastures, our route continues along the Sentiero dei Fiori towards Alpe Fora and Rifugio Longoni (2,450 m), perched on a promontory. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3:
From Rifugio Longoni, we will reach Forcella d’Entova (2,831 m). From here, we descend into Vallone dello Scerscen, where we can admire the majestic Bernina Group in all its splendor. Once we arrive at the Cimitero degli Alpini (2,370 m), nestled at the base of towering peaks, we will follow the trail leading through a side valley, passing the enchanting Laghetto delle Forbici, and arriving at Rifugio Carate (2,636 m). Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4: Leaving Rifugio Carate, we will ascend Forcella di Fellaria, where the magnificent Fellaria Glacier will unfold before us. We will then descend on the opposite side, reaching Rifugio Bignami. Here, after shedding excess backpack weight, we will head toward the famous glacier, where we can admire floating icebergs in the turquoise lake at its base. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 5:
The final stage of our tour starts from the cozy Rifugio Bignami, heading toward Switzerland. The trail offers great thrills, such as passing under the Fellaria waterfall, visiting small alpine pastures, and seeing glacial lakes of a thousand colors until we reach the border between Italy and Switzerland. This spot gives us one last look at the high peaks of Piz Bernina before we reach the village of Poschiavo, where we will spend the night.
DAY 6: After a good breakfast, we will take the magnificent Bernina train—a UNESCO World Heritage site—to return to St. Moritz, where we will head back to Maloja to pick up the cars.
