Entering Val di Rhêmes from the lower Aosta Valley, one immediately gets the impression of being dwarfed by towering mountains. Steep slopes branch into rocky buttresses from which imposing waterfalls plunge, resonating through the valley floor. Snow cones persist well into the season, and larches climb along the cliffs, adding color to the austere landscape. Arriving in Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, the space opens up, and the view stretches freely upwards, across pastures and glaciers that peek above the greenery. Even higher, the massive rocky peak of Granta Parey, the undisputed Queen of the Valley, emerges. Three days dedicated to spring ski mountaineering in high Val di Rhêmes will lead us to explore these vast mountains on the border with France, with a fixed base at Rifugio Benevolo, nestled in the sunlit basin at the foot of the valley’s main peaks.

After Snowder’s first Peruvian ski mountaineering experience in May 2025, when we skied some of the Cordillera Blanca classics (Vallunaraju, Ishinca, and Pisco), here we are again with the idea of returning to Peru: the stunning mountains of the Cordillera Blanca offer the chance to climb high and ski beautifully on peaks that are impressive even just to look at! But that’s not all: the hospitality of the Andean people is wonderful—porters, arrieros, and cooks are true masters at putting us tourists in the best possible conditions to face these magnificent mountains. So last spring, descending to the valley after climbing Ishinca, we found ourselves under an immense glacier: Nevado Copa, which from nearly 6,200 meters stretches out a vast, immaculate, undulating, and inviting blanket of snow. The only thought was to reorganize and set off again! The ski mountaineering project on Nevado Copa is reserved for excellent ski mountaineers, well-trained and able to move confidently with ice axe and crampons, as well as ski on sometimes complex terrain and slopes that can be quite steep. That said, it is a beautiful program that will take us to climb—not only Copa—but also two other peaks of nearly 6,000 meters: Vallunaraju and Ishinca, while admiring the wonders, lights, and colors of the Peruvian Andes.

An exciting journey to the volcanoes of Araucanía and the Region of Los Lagos. Chile, with its 4350 km of length, extends from the border with Peru to the Tierra del Fuego. There you can find the most diverse landscapes and all types of climate: from the driest desert on Earth - the Atacama Desert - to the glaciers in Patagonia; from the mountains over 7000 meters high in the Andes to the Pacific Ocean. The central part of the country between Temuco and Puerto Mott is full of renowned National Parks and there you can find the best favorable conditions for ski mountaineering experiences. This area lends itself to amazing trips to the volcanoes at altitudes of around 3000 m. Those trips can be carried out in a single day.

A week of ski mountaineering among the immense Austrian pine forests against which the easternmost glaciers of the Alpine arc and the beautiful Dachstein, with its 2995 meters, the highest peak of the Northern Limestone Alps. The typical hospitality of the places to stay and the peaceful environment make this trip a proposal for those who want a week of ski mountaineering dedicated to beautiful powdery snow along panoramic trips and without major technical difficulties! In fact, the trips always start from the bottom of picturesque, typically Austrian valleys often nestled in deep rocky gorges, beyond which you reach open spaces and wide panoramic slopes above the pine forests. Upper Styria offers beautiful descents that alternate open slopes with vast coniferous forests; Thanks to the rather cold climate and the disturbances that easily reach these mountains from Siberia, the snow is very often powdery and abundant.

Monte Rosa is the temple of Freeride: wide lands, an infinite variety of slopes of different technical levels suitable for all, from the beginner to the steep skiing lover; modern ski lifts that allow the skier to fully enjoy the ski day. If it is true that the well-known “Monte Rosa Tour” is today partly affected by ski lifts, the modern Punta Indren lift station leads you in a short time up to an altitude of 3200 m and lets you reach the wide slopes to Gressoney (such as to Lys Valley) or to Alagna, throughout couloirs, glaciers, isolated valleys surrounded by steep sides.  

Les Trois Vallées, the three valleys in the heart of the French Alps, is the largest ski area in the world, bringing together some of the most beautiful resorts in the Tarentaise region. Our stay will begin in Val Thorens (or nearby), where we will be based for the entire trip. From here, the adventure begins—beautiful runs, challenging descents, easy slopes, but above all, unforgettable experiences. Countless lines to explore, always in search of the finest, softest, and untouched snow. Among the many routes, we won’t miss the chance to ski down Mont Vallon in Méribel, Pointe de la Masse, and Cime de Caron in Val Thorens. Short ascents with ski skins will allow us to access less-traveled itineraries, leading to Col de Gébroulaz (3,434m) and Aiguille de Peclet (3,561m) for dreamlike descents!!!
