Ski Touring in the Troll Peninsula, Northern Iceland

This trip will take us, in the Arctic Ocean, to discover Trollaskagi, the wild Troll Peninsula in northern Iceland, in the Akureyri region.

An extraordinary land, made up of vast mountain areas with very unique geometry, highly interesting for ski mountaineering lovers: the altitudes vary from 800 to 1400 meters, the average difficulties are BS level on the classic scale with BSA level variations and exciting couloirs for steep ski lovers. In short, descents for all tastes and all levels…

It will be an unforgettable experience because ski touring in Iceland means magic, surreal atmospheres and descents plunging down on beautiful fjords with unpronounceable names…

Travel program

DAY 1: meeting in Keflavik, rental car pick up, transfer to Akureyri.

DAYS 2 to 6: every day a different ski touring experience; awaiting for us - among others - the climbs on Kaldbakur, clearly visible also from Akureyri, with large and gentle skiable slopes on the southern side; Drangar (964 m asl), a beautiful peak with an evident shoulder sloping at over 35° constant and Hreppsendasulur (1052 m asl), a wonderful peak with an impressive crest.

DAYS 7 to 8: last skiing and return to the capital, transfer to hotel, free dinner and overnight stay. The following day flight back to Italy.

NB The program may undergo changes in the price/timetables/location of overnight stays due to the unavailability of services (flights/overnight stays) to be verified when booking. On site, in less than optimal weather and safety conditions, the Alpine Guide will confirm the itineraries included in the program day by day.
