The spectacular Cordillera Huayhuash is located on the border area between the regional departments of Ancash, Huanuco, and Lima, about fifty kilometers south of the Cordillera Blanca. Huayhuash is the second highest mountain range in the tropical zone worldwide after the Cordillera Blanca. Its highest peak is Yerupaya, which at 6,634 meters is the second highest mountain in Peru and the highest in the Amazon. In this program you will first visit the Cordillera Blanca — during the acclimatization days — and then the Huayhuash during the trek.
These are sharp peaks, covered in ice with bizarre shapes and spectacular profiles, inviting you to pause, observe, and photograph what still today represents one of the most impressive, lesser-known, and less-frequented places in the Andes.
This is a moderately difficult trek, with some sections made more challenging by the altitude — reaching 5,100 meters at Paso Santa Rosa — and therefore requires a proper acclimatization program, aimed at completing the tour with maximum enjoyment and safety.
This program is organized for groups of at least 5 people and will be accompanied by a Snowder Medium Mountain Guide and a local Medium Mountain Guide.
Attention: It is possible to join this tour as part of international groups, managed by a trusted Peruvian agency and accompanied solely by a local Medium Mountain Guide. In this case, the price will be only 1250 Euros.
Flights are always excluded.
