A must-do trek that offers unforgettable experiences, both from a scenic perspective and beyond!

Step by step, we will circle this imposing rocky massif, observing its four distinct faces, cross through Buco di Viso, the first Alpine tunnel, and walk through the magical Alevè forest, the largest Swiss pine forest in the Alps, all enriched by wild nature and the excellent hospitality of Alpine mountain huts.

Travel program

Day 1: Meeting point at Pian del Re in Val Po, the starting and ending location of our trek, home to the source of the Po River, the longest river in Italy. The itinerary leads us through Buco di Viso, the first Alpine tunnel, crossing into France, where we will reach Refuge du Viso for lunch. The imposing western face will accompany us throughout the day until we arrive at Rifugio Vallanta, where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Breakfast and departure from Rifugio Vallanta. Our trek takes us through the Alevè forest, the largest Swiss pine forest in the Alps, ascending among majestic trees in pristine nature. The next stop is Colle San Chiaffredo, a fascinating spot with stone cairns and glacial lakes, followed by Scottish-like landscapes leading us to Rifugio Quintino Sella, where we will spend the night, enjoying breathtaking views over the plains below.

Day 3: The final day of our trek begins at Rifugio Quintino Sella, located at the base of Monviso's massive eastern face. We descend along the trail back to our vehicles, passing by the magnificent glacial lakes of Monviso, including Lago Chiaretto, famous for its turquoise waters. This last stage allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the region, concluding our incredible trek with a memorable day.

NB The program may undergo changes in the price/timetables/location of overnight stays due to the unavailability of services (flights/overnight stays) to be verified when booking. On site, in less than optimal weather and safety conditions, the guide will confirm the itineraries included in the program day by day.
