Travel program

DAY 1: our journey begins with a pleasant loop trail starting from Acceglio. The Frassati Path is a scenic route that winds through characteristic stone hamlets and vast high-altitude meadows. It's the ideal way to get in tune with the valley's slow pace, discovering the rich local flora and the first outlines of Rocca la Meja. It will be a day that gives us a privileged look at the spectacular head of the valley, all without having to face demanding slopes. Return to the alpine inn, dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 2: starting from Preit di Canosio, we hike up to discover one of the most iconic and evocative lakes in all of Piedmont. Lago Nero is nestled in a natural basin, where the peaks are clearly reflected on the dark surface. The trail passes through fragrant larch forests and hanging plateaus, where the whistle of marmots will often be our soundtrack. It is fully considered one of the most photogenic lakes in the entire Western Alps. Return to the alpine inn, dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 3: we'll reach Rocca la Meja, a monumental limestone structure that stands out against the sky like a Gothic cathedral in the middle of a boundless plateau. The route, almost entirely flat, follows ancient high-altitude military roads that offer an extraordinary 360-degree view. La Meja is the undisputed emblem of the Maira Valley: walking beneath its vertical walls gives a sense of space and absolute freedom. Return to the alpine inn, dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 4: we'll hike up the Infernetto Valley to approach the Barenghi Bivouac. Here the scenery changes profoundly, turning us into explorers of a fascinating lunar landscape that hosts the Lake of Nine Colors. A name that doesn't disappoint: the water's hues constantly shift from turquoise to deep blue depending on the whims of the light. It's the wildest and most primordial stage of the trek, where the sharp contrast between the bare rock and the shades of the lake is breathtaking. Return to the alpine inn, dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 5: we'll conclude this adventure with the great satisfaction of conquering a real summit. Mount Chersogno (3,026 m) is one of the rare 3,000-meter peaks in the Alps that can be climbed without technical difficulties. The trail is always clear and the ascent steady. From the summit cross, on the clearest days, the view stretches from the unmistakable pyramid of Monviso to the glint of the sea: the thrill of reaching 3,000 meters in complete safety, taking home the highest and most exciting memory of the whole trip.
Return to Acceglio, where our trek will come to an end.

NB The program may undergo changes in the price/timetables/location of overnight stays due to the unavailability of services (flights/overnight stays) to be verified when booking. On site, in less than optimal weather and safety conditions, the Alpine Guide will confirm the itineraries included in the program day by day.
