Selvaggio Blu Extreme

Extreme is a big word... True, but it's just to distinguish this program from the "classic" Selvaggio Blu. While it covers the same stretch of the Ogliastra coast, here we are more on the rock faces: there is more climbing, the juniper trunks leaning against the rock (known since ancient times as Scale fustas, or log ladders) are more daring, and the views are exhilarating. Also known as "Selvaggio Blu in reverse" because that's essentially what it is, this itinerary not only travels the coast from north to south but also follows new routes, staying more on the rock and only occasionally joining the classic path. It is also a relatively unknown itinerary and therefore less crowded: now is the time to take advantage of it because it allows us to experience a few truly wild days in intimate contact with nature. This route is certainly suitable for those with a minimum of rock climbing or via ferrata experience, those who enjoy exhilarating abseils into the void, those who can enjoy a bivouac by the sea, and those who appreciate a few days totally outside the norm! A regenerating experience, which we offer to small groups of maximum 5 people outside of peak tourist periods.

Travel program

Day 1: Off-road transfer to the Margine plateau, then trekking descent along the wild S’istrada Longa trail. Arrival at Cala Sisine, organized bivouac.

Day 2: Iron path of Punta Plumare, followed by two spectacular abseils over Bosco di Oronnoro, and a third descent leading directly to Cala Biriala. Organized bivouac in the forest above the beach.

Day 3: Ascent from Cala Biriala via a comfortable trail near Ololbissi sheepfold, then tackling the 7 abseils of Bacu Padente, reaching above Grotta del Fico. Continuing along the classic Selvaggio Blu route to Bacu Mudaloru. Boat transfer to Cala Biriala for a second bivouac night.

Day 4: Boat transfer back to Mudaloru beach. The trek continues through one of the most daring sections, ascending to Punta Mudaloru cliffs and crossing an exposed, breathtaking passage over the sea. A long trail, interspersed with rock ledges and overhanging caves, leads to Cala Mariolu. Organized bivouac above the beach.

Day 5: Ascent from Cala Mariolu via a scenic trail to Serra Lattone, where we visit the characteristic sheepfolds. A less-marked trail leads back toward the sea, crossing the Boladina passage, the final challenge of the trek. Descending to beautiful Cala Goloritze for a final swim before returning to civilization. Boat transfer back to Santa Maria Navarrese.

NB The program may undergo changes in the price/timetables/location of overnight stays due to the unavailability of services (flights/overnight stays) to be verified when booking. On site, in less than optimal weather and safety conditions, the guide will confirm the itineraries included in the program day by day.
