A unique journey to Svalbard–Spitsbergen, the islands 640 kilometers north of the North Cape, once considered the obligatory passage for Dutch explorers searching for the Indies: extreme polar nature for top-quality ski mountaineering in the land of the Polar Bear, characterized by endless days with the midnight sun.
This tour should be considered "soft" (relative to the fact that we're in Svalbard), since unlike the other tour we offer on the islands (see Atomfjella program), we always stay in heated chalets where we dine at a table and sleep in a comfortable bed. Additionally, approaches to the mountains can be made with the help of snowmobiles, saving us the ski transfers on flat terrain.
A great opportunity accessible even to those less inclined toward adventure to discover Arctic nature.

Travel program
We'll stay in two chalets: Krekling Lodge and Slettebu Cabin.
To reach Krekling Lodge, we'll travel by snowmobile approximately 35 kilometers east of Longyearbyen to Kreklingpasset, admiring the enchanting landscape that Adventdalen offers. We'll pass by the famous Operafjellet, a mountain named after its beautiful amphitheater-shaped valley.
Some participants will be required to drive the snowmobiles, so a driver's license is necessary.
Though only 35 kilometers from Longyearbyen, Krekling Lodge is an unforgettable place to enjoy the peace and pristine nature of the Arctic. It sits just above Kreklingpasset and offers breathtaking views of four different valleys and along the ridge of Ottofjellet. Its unique position allows us to explore the surrounding area, spending each day discovering high peaks, crossing valleys, and traversing moraines and glaciers. Every evening we'll return to our base to enjoy the comforts of Krekling Lodge.
The mountains in this area—Ottofjellet, Albert Bruntoppen, Arctowskifjellet, and Lousitaniafjellet—all exceed 900 meters in elevation and offer spectacular views of Sassenfjord and Templefjellet.
After a few days, we'll move toward the Van Mijenfjord area to reach the welcoming Slettebu Cabin. A snowmobile trip of approximately 75 kilometers, from Kreklingpasset to Reindalen, one of the widest and most spectacular glacial valleys in Spitsbergen. We'll then cross Slakbreen to reach Van Mijenfjord.
The mountains in the southern part of Nordenskjöldland are a dream for both skiers and hikers. This mountain group is known for its wonderful routes.
During this trip, we'll spend each day outdoors (on skis or with boots/snowshoes): we'll experience different types of terrain, including valleys, moraines, mountains, and glaciers, before returning to the cabin in the evening.
The mountains in this area—Gustavfjellet, Skalken, Lundgrenfjellet, and Aspelintoppen—all exceed 1,000 meters in elevation and offer incredible views of Van Mijenfjord and the eastern part of Spitsbergen.
If necessary, we can take short snowmobile trips to reach different locations for our daily excursions.
Svalbard has 24 hours of daylight starting from the end of March, making it possible to engage in outdoor activities for much longer intervals than in places where the sun sets earlier. This is one of the best aspects of exploring Spitsbergen during spring.
Please note that, depending on weather and snow conditions, we may modify the itinerary and start the trip at Slettebu Cabin and conclude it at Krekling Lodge.
