The great mountains stretching from the Matterhorn to Monte Rosa form the playground for this stunning, one-of-a-kind tour. Named by Swiss guides as a reminder to Anglo-Saxon tourists of the excellent hospitality and culinary quality of the Italian huts where you stay, the Spaghetti Tour offers views of unparalleled beauty, ranging from vast glacial expanses to the green Po Valley and the blue of its great lakes. The program begins with Western Breithorn, crossing it to link up with its Eastern twin, before heading into the most famous 4,000-meter peaks of the Alps: from Pollux to Castor, then crossing Lyskamm Nose and climbing up to Capanna Margherita. Here, fully acclimated, you can peacefully enjoy the experience of staying overnight at 4,554 meters, witnessing a spectacular sunrise and tasting the famous highest pizza in Europe.
Travel program
DAY 1: meeting in Cervinia at 7:30 AM, individual equipment check, and departure via lifts to climb to Piccolo Cervino. This marks the official start of the Spaghetti Tour, with the climb to the first 4,000-meter peak: Western Breithorn (4165 m), which helps us get acclimated and find our pace. A traverse descent leads to Central Breithorn (4160 m) across the vast glaciers below Roccia Nera and Pollux, reaching the welcoming Guide Val d’Ayas Hut. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: wake up before dawn and set off for the ascent of Pollux (4091 m), which offers a beautiful rocky ridge and the spectacular crossing of a dizzying rocky gap with the help of a small via ferrata. After descending from the summit, we resume the climb along the North Face of Castor (4226 m) to complete the traverse, crossing Colle Felik (4093 m) before descending to Rifugio Sella. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3: another early start to climb Felik Glacier and then Lys Glacier, followed by the traverse ascent of Lyskamm Nose (4272 m). After descending the southeastern side, we reach Balmenhorn (Cristo delle Vette, 4167 m) and Pyramid Vincent (4215 m), summiting both in succession before descending for a well-earned rest at Capanna Gnifetti.
DAY 4: departure at dawn, ascending Lys Glacier again to complete the traverse of Corno Nero (4322 m) and the peaks Ludwigshöhe (4342 m) and Parrot (4436 m), arriving at a steady pace at Punta Gnifetti, home to the highest hut in Europe, Capanna Margherita (4554 m). We stay overnight here, enjoying the fabulous sunset over Lyskamm and the thrilling sunrise over the Piedmont plains.
DAY 5: after a short descent to the vast Colle Gnifetti, we tackle the final ascent of the Spaghetti Tour, completing a "feast" of twelve 4,000-meter peaks in five days: Punta Zumstein (4564 m), which offers a magnificent view of Dufourspitze—the highest point of the massif—and the Macugnaga valley. Descent to Punta Indren and return to Staffal via lifts. Return to Cervinia by taxi.
